Second Level have been using a 'Reflective Log' booklet at the end of each day. They invite individual reflection from each child and respond to them personally.

Reflections on Reflection
The children were asked how they felt about their Reflection Logs - Did they like them? What was easy or difficult? Is there anything they would change? What did they think was the main purpose of writing them. First they had a brief discussion and here are their responses.
- They are there to help reflect on what you did and for the teachers to see what you think.
- They are not difficult. They get you thinking. Their purpose is so the teachers can see what activities you liked or didn’t like. Then they can make changes.
- The teachers can see what we liked or didn’t like and what we understand or didn’t understand.
- I don’t like writing. If we could picture it, it would be a lot better.
- It helps us think what we’ve done and at the end of the week we can see what we’ve achieved.
- If you didn’t like something, you can let the teacher know and maybe they could change it.
- You can think about what you’ve learned and sometimes you learn something and don’t realise it until you do your reflection.
- Makes you think about what you’ve done – which is good.
- It’s easy because you’ve only got two questions. The difficult thing is trying to think of the right wording sometimes. It’s there to help you keep track of your week.
- Helps you look back at what you’ve done and enjoyed and if it’s similar or different to other people. It helps you remember what you’ve learned.
- At the end of the week you see what you’ve learned and it’s good because it’s not hundreds of questions!
